S2Verify will adhere to the already stringent guidelines set forth by the Safety Council Security Consortium (SCSC) and will be required to deliver the same quality screen you’ve become accustomed to through ISTC.

Beginning in early February you’ll find S2Verify as another option in the background vendor lineup.

News Release

Upgraded Background Check Graded® Package 2.0

Effective February 1, 2012, the Industrial Safety Training Council will be releasing an upgraded version of the current reciprocal Background Check Graded® (BCG®) Package in a new release known as BCG® 2.0. The new package will be available for ordering through the ISTC website on February 1, 2012.

Why the new upgraded package?

The purpose for the latest upgrade with this package is to provide plant owners and contracting companies in the industrial construction, chemical and petrochemical industry a more comprehensive security background screen. This upgraded package will be more in alignment with the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards - Personnel Surety guidelines, (RBPS #12).

What has changed?

In addition to the current package elements, the new BCG® 2.0 will include:
  • Expanded identity authentication process using commercially available databases
  • Expanding criminal searches to include all identifiable maiden names and alias'
  • Adding Federal Criminal searches to package
  • Adding comprehensive National Criminal Record Database searches to package

Is the new BCG® 2.0 package reciprocal with the existing BCG® package and BCG® screens ordered through other safety councils?

Yes, any currently valid legacy BCG® packages ordered prior to February 1, 2012 will still be considered valid in the Safety Council Security Consortium (SCSC) reciprocal model. Please check with your local area safety council for future release dates of the new BCG® 2.0.

Will the cost of the package change?

Yes, there is a new pricing structure associated with each qualified participating vendor in the SCSC background screening program. Pricing for the new BCG® 2.0 packages will range from $61.75 to $95.75 per package. Pricing is dependent on each participating vendor. For more information, please see the ISTC website for complete list of participating vendors and pricing structure.

Will plant owner facilities currently participating in the BCG® program accept the new package in lieu of the legacy BCG® Package?

Yes, it is expected that all currently participating plant owner locations will accept the new BCG® 2.0, in addition to any currently valid BCG® legacy packages. However, any BCG® legacy packages run after Feb. 1, 2012 will not be reciprocal with the new BCG® 2.O package.

PRESS RELEASE***IMMEDIATE***June 7, 2011

Roco Rescue, Inc. of Baton Rouge, LA and the Beaumont Emergency Services Training Complex (BEST Complex) in Beaumont, TX has announced a partnership which will deliver rescue training for fire departments and industry. In addition to open enrollment training, private classes will be available through BEST Complex as well. “Our first class is this month (June, 2011) and it’s full”, according to John Voinche’ Sr. VP/Chief Operating Officer for Roco Rescue.”

“ISTC and BEST Complex are excited about this partnership that will provide quality rescue training and maximize the customer’s training dollar”, said Russell M. Melancon Jr., CAE, President and CEO Industrial Safety Training Council.

Although the partnership is a new one between these two companies, it marks a return for Roco to Southeast Texas. “We used to train there on a regular basis years ago and we’re excited about returning to Beaumont,” says Voinche’. BEST Complex took over the management and operations of the site in 2004 which is owned by the City of Beaumont. BEST Complex offers live Fire Training to companies and agencies and the addition of rescue training will be a compliment to its courses offerings. BEST Complex is a division of the Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) and has offered safety & health training since 1991. ISTC is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit training and educational organization that implements training for over 4000 companies.

For many years, the former Beaumont Fire/Rescue Training Center has been acclaimed as “one of the best fire training centers in the country.” Combined with a leader in the rescue industry (Roco) both companies say this relationship represents a very strong union in an effort to offer customers the best of both worlds.

Based on the early success of the partnership, both Roco and BEST Complex say they will be expanding its class schedule for 2012. These courses will include High Angle, Confined Space, Trench and Structural Collapse Rescue. For more information contact Trisha Kelley at BEST Complex (409-291-4417) or Aimee Sims at Roco (800-647-7626).
