ISTC has strengthened its existing badging and credentialing processes by integrating advanced identity verification scanners across both its Beaumont and Baytown locations. This enhancement builds on current procedures, adding a deeper layer of security and operational integrity while maintaining the efficiency customers expect.
These systems, commonly used in high-security environments, elevate the traditional ID check by incorporating multiple layers of verification. When an ID is scanned, the system captures and analyzes the document using optical character recognition and barcode scanning to extract key details such as name, date of birth, and document number. For passports, it also reads the Machine Readable Zone, ensuring encoded data aligns with visible information.
From there, the system evaluates built-in security features, including holograms, font consistency, microprinting, and ultraviolet elements that are difficult to replicate. It also compares the ID against a global library of known document templates to identify inconsistencies or signs of forgery. In more advanced cases, biometric verification, such as matching the ID photo to a live image, can provide an additional level of confirmation.
By enhancing its current processes with this technology, ISTC significantly increases confidence that individuals are who they claim to be and are authorized for access. While no system can guarantee absolute certainty, this added layer has already proven effective; fraudulent IDs are being identified on a regular basis through these enhanced checks.
For a safety council committed to protecting customer organizations, strengthening identity verification is a natural evolution of existing controls. In industrial environments where access to facilities, training, and controlled areas must be carefully managed, accurate identification is essential to preventing unauthorized entry, supporting compliance, and reinforcing a strong safety culture.
Importantly, this enhancement has been implemented without adding time or cost to customers. Identity verification is seamlessly incorporated into ISTC’s current workflow, ensuring a secure and efficient experience.
By continuing to evolve its processes, ISTC reinforces its commitment to safeguarding people, reducing operational risk, and maintaining the integrity of its safety programs.
